Wag Development Association (WDA) is non-for-profit and non-governmental organization registered as local civil society organization (CSO) by the Ethiopian Federal Agency for Civil Society Organizations (Registry No. 1855). WDA been operating in Wag Himera administrative zone since 2009. WDA has its head office located in Sekota, and branch offices in Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, and Dessie.

Since 2009, WDA has made remarkable efforts to improve education, health, water, and sustainability of degraded landscapes in Wag Himera and its surroundings. Since 2019, WDA has added emergency and humanitarian responses as one of its main areas of involvement. WDA’s top priority in 2022-2025 will be supporting the overall rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts (livelihoods, education, health, women, WASH, capacity building) due to the armed conflicts, 2020-2022, in northern Ethiopia.

Transparency is at the heart of our activities. Community representatives are involved from screening and selecting, to approving and witnessing the distribution of the material support to the target beneficiaries.
WDA receives support from individuals and organizations both in Ethiopia and abroad. It also collects monthly volunteer contribution from its subscribed members. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in supporting the sustainable development of Wag Himera and its environs.
